Hey all, there used to be a picture that was published in radon manuals defining what the eave of the home is. On a gutter side it was above the gutter. On the sides of the home without the gutter it had a dotted line across the bottom of the "A" and defined that as the eave on a non-gutter side of a home. The rules related to windows and opening remain the same. Does anyone have a copy of this picture. This is something that a lot of mitigators struggle with interpreting.

There is no interpretation needed. Current SGM-SF 2017, Soil Gas Mitigation Standard for Existing Homes says exterior mounted vent pipes must extend at least 6" past the edge of the roof. The writers of earlier Standards always intended "eave" to mean the edge of the roof deck.

You can find those type of descriptive photos on many home building information sites on line.
